Dr. Ann Herschl Cirillo
Ann graduated from the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary in 1990. After completing a one year internship in anesthesiology, she joined both an equine practice and a small animal practice for the following year. She became an exclusively small animal practitioner in 1992. Dr. Herschl (Cirillo) enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine including a special interest in companion animal dentistry.
She and her husband John spend their spare time attending their youngest son, Michael's, sporting events including competitive cheer leading, pole vault, and track and field. Of their three older children, Samantha, graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with her Master's degree in Social Work, and just had Dr. Ann and John's very first granddaughter. Emily is finishing her last year at the University of Pittsburgh with a Major in Environmental Science and a Minor in Japanese. Alexandra is attending Slippery Rock University and studying Elementary Education/Special Education.
Dr. Ann decided to become a veterinarian at a very young age and followed her dream to reality. She considers herself blessed to be able to do what she loves, and not only take care of the animal patients, but their owners as well. She attends many community activities including events sponsored by the Susan G. Komen foundation, Western Pennsylvania Humane Society, Animal Friends, Butler County Humane Society, Hello Bully, community days and home shows. She also has a passion for mentoring teenagers and young adults who desire to become veterinarians someday.
Dr. Verret, Medical Director
Dr. Verret was born and raised in south Louisiana where she grew up on a small family farm. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University. Her special interests include surgery and companion animal reproduction. In her spare time Dr. Verret enjoys playing softball and spending time with her fiancé and her 3 fur babies Jolie, Ox and Bubba.
Dr. Allison Neely
Dr. Allison J. Neely is a Pittsburgh native. She attended Penn State University main campus and obtained a Bachelors of Science Degree in Animal BioScience in 2010. She attended the University of Pennsylvania for veterinary school and graduated in 2014.
Dr. Neely worked at small animal clinic in Washington, Pa before starting at Avalon in December 2015. Currently, she lives in Carnegie with her goldendoodle and three cats. She is an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoys attending local concerts.
Dr. Danielle Vought
Dr. Vought is a native of Somerset County, growing up in Meyersdale, PA. She attended Seton Hill University, in Greensburg, PA, for her undergraduate studies where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in May, 2008. She then went on to attend Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree in May, 2012. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, from pocket pets to large animals, most notably surgery, soft tissue and some orthopedic.
Danielle resides in Derry, Westmoreland county, with her husband, Chris, two children, Ava and Ian, and their fur-children, Farah and Keira, the Danes, Bella, the cocker spaniel, and Ravioli, the cat. In her free time, Danielle enjoys spending time with friends and family, as well as gardening and hiking.
Dr. Stephanie Clauss
Dr. Stephanie Clauss graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. After graduation, Dr. Clauss moved to central New Jersey where she practiced at the Raritan Animal Hospital for 7 years, then the Animal Hospital at Kingston and Blawenburg for 2 years before returning home to Western Pennsylvania in 2014.
Dr. Clauss' professional interests include internal medicine, dermatology, surgery and dentistry. In her free time, Dr. Clauss enjoys spending time with her family, especially her amazing daughters. She also enjoys cooking, reading and outdoor adventures. Along with her family, Dr. Clauss shares her home with three dogs, three cats, and a pond full of goldfish.
Lauren is the Practice Administrator and has been a part of the team since January 2014. She has been a Certified Veterinary Technician for 10 years.
She is very efficient with scheduling and keeping the hospital organized and running smoothly. Her hobbies include shopping, traveling and swimming. She enjoys spending time with her family.
Lauren shares her home with four cats, "Ebony", "Theodore", "Priscilla", and "Tinkerbell"- the cat that made her a foster failure.
Amanda is the Hospital Manager. She has been working in the veterinary field since she was 15 years old. She is extremely skilled in all aspects of her job but has a special interest in dentistry. She shares her home with two dogs, Bauer and Faith. Amanda enjoys, fishing, hiking and spending time with her friends. Her cheerful, upbeat personality is one of the many qualities we love about her. She prides herself on taking her time, educating our clients and getting to know them.
June has been part of the team at Avalon Veterinary Hospital for 41 years. She enjoys working with the patients, educating their owners and having a great team of coworkers to work with. June was born and raised on a farm and when not at work, she still spends time working on the farm and keeping her own home running smoothly.
Melanie is originally from Toronto, Canada and moved to Pittsburgh to be with her husband in 2014. She has been working in the veterinary field since 2005 and loves being around animals every day! In her spare time she enjoys watching movies, going for walks, and camping. She grew up with dogs, birds, and fish but currently shares her home with her 2 cats.
Darlene attended college and obtained her Veterinary Technician License in 2004, after which she worked in Las Vegas and traveled around the West Coast for seven years. She enjoyed meeting some great people and the beautiful places but eventually worked her way back home and is living in the North Hills. She has always enjoyed science, medicine and animals.
This is the perfect job for Darlene, she could not imagine herself being happy doing anything else. When she is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and furbabies, reading and attending local activities.
Amanda joins us with over 7 years of experience in both cardiology and emergency medicine. She earned her degree as a Certified Veterinary Technician from VTI in Pittsburgh in 2008. She particularly enjoys anesthesia, cardiology and client education. She shares her home with 3 cats-- Julius, Oliver, and George-- and has a horse, Carolina, as well. In her spare time, she enjoys showing her horse in hunter/jumper events as well as spending time with family and friends.
Chelsea wanted to be a Veterinary Technician for as long as she can remember. She has been working in the Veterinary Industry for 5 years. She has worked in General Practice, Emergency and Shelter medicine. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter. Chelsea shares her home with three cats, one dog and a chinchilla.
Dolly was born and raised in the North Boroughs. All her life she has been surrounded by animals. At a very young age, Dolly knew taking care of animals was what she was meant to do. Dolly started working at Avalon in 1994 and enjoys being able to help keep people's pets healthy and happy.
Jenn has been working as a Veterinary Technician since July 2015 and joined the Avalon Team in April 2016. She grew up in North Huntington with dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs and horses. Jenn now lives in Pittsburgh with her cat Panini. She looks forward to expanding her career at Avalon and helping clients and patients with their care.
Tina has been at Avalon Veterinary Hospital since June of 1990. She has been married to her wonderful husband for almost 35 years. They have 2 sons, 4 grandchildren and one on the way. She enjoys reading horror stories, and going to the beach. Her family enjoys car shows and drag races. They have a 15 yr old painted turtle and a 6 yr old Maine Coon cat named Bogey.
Emily has wanted to work with animals for her entire life and left her bank job to go back to school at VTI. She earned her degree and certification in 2014 and can't dream of working in any other field. She is particularly interested in surgery, behaviorism, and internal medicine. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends, exploring the city of Pittsburgh, and obeying the every whim of her kitty, Lola.
